How old do I need to be to rent a car?
Hertz rents to drivers age 20 and over in most states. In New York and Michigan, the minimum age is 18 years old. A “Young Renter Daily Fee” applies to drivers under the age of 25 in addition to the rental rate, and the amount varies by state and age of renter.
Is it possible to book a one-way car rental?
Hertz one-way car rentals allow you to return your rental car to the nearest Hertz location. In the U.S., pick up and return a rental car at one of 4,000 locations. Plus, most rentals come with free, unlimited mileage.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Hertz accepts all major credit cards, including American Express, MasterCard, Carte Blanche, Visa, Diners Club, Discover, JCB, China Union Pay, and some debit cards. Check with your Hertz location for specifics if you plan to use a debit card to qualify for a rental. Cash is also accepted at corporate Hertz locations in the U.S. as long as you present a Hertz Cash Deposit Card ID Card or an acceptable credit card. In these cases, you can use a credit card or an acceptable debit card to qualify for the rental at the outset, and then pay cash at the conclusion of your rental.
Can I add an additional driver to my rental?
With Hertz, you can add additional drivers to your rental car for an additional fee, provided the additional drivers meet all requirements.
Will I earn rewards for my rentals?
When you book a Hertz rental car through Marriott Bonvoy, you’ll earn 2,000 points for rentals for two or more days at participating Hertz locations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, and New Zealand. Offer terms apply. Rentals of one day earn 500 points.
