What You Will Do
From Ice Age hunters to the Muscogee Creek tribe, evidence has been found of 12,000 years plus of human habitation on this land. This is a smartphone app location aware (GPS) guided tour. it's a step by step adventure that is professionally scripted and narrated and produced with music.
You will go through the national historic park from the visitors center, to the Earth Lodge, the Trading post and the great and lesser mounds. The tour is one mile long.
You’ll hear the stories of the people that built the mounds, their culture and traditions, the history and interactions with the settlers, how they were forcibly removed and how they may return.

To note, the park is free to enter. The tour starts at the Ocmulgee Mounds Visitors Center.

Meeting Point
The tour starts outside the front of the Ocmulgee Mounds National Park visitors center, just at the steps. Outside the Visitors center open the WalknTours app, open your tour and press play. From there you'll turn left and follow the path into the park to see the mounds and learn their history.

Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park

You'll walk through the trails and see the sites of Ocmmulgee Mounds National park and see the great mount, lesser mound, Earth Lodge, crossings, sites of the old trading post and hear the story of the Mississippian native people, the history of the natives in the area, the story behind the mounds and the history of the land.

Earth Lodge - Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park

The tour stops at the earth lodge where you'll hear about it's purpose, the people that lived here and their history.

Great Temple Mound
10 minutes
You'll climb the steps of the Great Temple Mound and see the sites of the park and learn what happened on the mound and it's purpose. You'll also learn how the natives were forced to leave the land.

Ocmulgee Mounds NHP Visitor Center

The tour starts and ends at the visitors center where you can learn more about the park.
