Step off the beaten track and into one of Madrid’s trendy neighbourhood, where you will visit some of the city’s Baroque Churches and best-loved cafés. On your tour, you will:

  • Visit the Iglesia San Antonio de Los Alemanes (Church of St Anthony of the Germans) stunning frescos.
  • Taste some of Madrid’s best jamón (ham) and see the experts carve the ham directly from the leg.
  • Stroll the streets of the unique Malasaña neighbourhood – a metropolis of culture, art, and food
  • Discover 19th-century art treasures at the Romanticist Museum (with tickets included)
Stray away from the main tourist draw of one of Europe’s most vibrant capitals, and visit one of the city’s hidden neighbourhoods.  First, visit a Baroque wonder, which dates back to the 1620s. Iglesia San Antonio de los Alemanes is full of hidden charm in its ellipsoidal, fresco-covered interior, which features elaborate works of art by Luca Giordano and Francisco Ricci.

After visiting the church, enjoy visiting one of the many classic jamón shops, where your guide will help you buy the best cuts of this classic and succulent tapas dish. Then, enjoy a stroll through the delightful Malasaña neighbourhood, which has become Madrid’s bohemian heartland. The streets have an alternative vibe, decorated with street art and lined with vintage clothing shops, trendy cafés and hipster haunts. This student mecca is loved for its weekend market stalls and traditional tapas bars.

The tour finishes at the Romanticism Museum, housed in a former neo-classical palace. Here, your guide will take you to the museum’s most popular pieces by Goya, Federico de Madrazo, and Leonardo Alenza. After your tour comes to an end, we recommend you get some local recommendations from your guide on the best places to dig into some delicious tapas in the area.
