Itinerary Details

Meet your guide in Piazza della Minerva,  down the stone elephant and discover  the meaning of this statue. Listen to the history of the builings sorrounding the square and then explore the Basilica of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, the church where the popes of the Florentine Medici family were buried. Admire the church interior, covered in artworks by Michelangelo, Bernini and other famous artists.

Get a detailed history of the Pantheon from your guide, who will point out ground-breaking features, such as the coffered concrete dome. Take a look at the oculus in the center of the dome, allowing natural light to illuminate the building while lightening the structural load. Initially a temple, the Pantheon is now one of the most spectacular churches in Rome and acts as the mausoleum to the tombs of Raphael, King Victor Emmanuel II and Queen Margherita among others.
