The Dão Wine Region is Portugal´s best kept secret. The region is full of castles and manor houses that give it a Bordeaux feeling. Considered by most as the Saint Emilion of Portugal, the region is perfect. Hectars of vineyards, 2 mountain ranges and the Serra da Estrela (Continental Portugal´s highest mountain range) give it a romantic feel.  The region is home to producers since 1788 and produces the most stunning wines. It is home to Touriga Nacional (red grape) and Encruzado (white grape). It was a forgotten region until de 1980´s when it began to reborn. Now it is home to the traditional and modern takes on Dão Wines. The food is also to die for! Full of stews, hearty meats and of course bacalhau and octopus. Get to know this unique region in Europe.
