The Dão Wine Region is Portugal´s best kept secret. The region is full of castles and manor houses that give it a Bordeaux feeling. Considered by most as the Saint Emilion of Portugal, the region is perfect. Hectars of vineyards, 2 mountain ranges and the Serra da Estrela (Continental Portugal´s highest mountain range) give it a romantic feel. The region is home to producers since 1788 and produces the most stunning wines. It is home to Touriga Nacional (red grape) and Encruzado (white grape). It was a forgotten region until de 1980´s when it began to reborn. Now it is home to the traditional and modern takes on Dão Wines. The food is also to die for!
