Nestled between the dunes and the ocean, Walvis Bay is Namibia's only port. Originally started as a whaling station, Walvis Bay has grown into an industrial powerhouse for Namibia.

Officially proclaimed in 1878 as a town by the British, Walvis Bay proved to be a tough town to live in, as the surroundings are decidedly hostile. On our tour we will explore both the remnants of the colonial times, as well as the nearby surroundings that make this town unique.

The visit to Dune 7 serves as an illustration as to the harsh environment that the town sprang up in. Along the way you can also see the waste processing plant of this town. The visit to the two townships illustrate the wide variety of cultures that make up the mix of this interesting town. You are welcome to climb the dune, and feel the sand under your feet, as well as soak in the beautiful surrounding scenery.

We will explore the various neighborhoods of Walvis Bay. Narraville was traditionally the colored township. Kuisebmond was traditionally the black township. Meersig is the first extension to Walvis Bay and shoulders most of the burden of keeping the sand out of the rest of town.

While apartheid is gone, people still prefer to live by culture, much like almost every big city has a "Chinatown", and in Walvis Bay this is no different.

While driving through Kuisebmond, you will definitely feel like you are in Africa. Next up is a drive through the light and heavy industrial areas of Walvis Bay. The tourist area is the Walvis Bay Waterfront, where we can stop for refreshments before going to the Lagune to view the wildlife. Please remember if you want to buy any curios you might need a copy of your passport.

Lastly we will take an offroad excursion into the dunes just surrounding Walvis Bay

We offer free pickup in Walvis Bay, including the harbor of Walvis Bay, for this tour. As we are still solving the issues with the booking systems, please provide us with an email address on your booking so that we can give you with the best experience possible.
