The High Place of Sacrifice is located in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Petra. It is named after its high location perched on top of the Jebel Madbah Mountain. Also known as al-Madhbah in Arabic, it was mainly used for the sacrifice of animals to the Nabatean God Dushara. At 170 meters high, the High Place of Sacrifice is one of the tallest locations in Petra. Stop At: Petra

The ultimate off the beaten track 'secret' Al Madras trail and climb to the High Place of Sacrifice. Start from the Main Gate of Petra to the Djinn blocks and the Obelisk Tombs. Walk through Al Madras Mountain through a secret road to view the Siq entrance from above. Next trek to the High Place of Sacrifice for beautiful panoramic views of the mountain range in Petra. Follow the route back down to the Roman Theatre for another photo stop. Then we will walk back to the Treasury where you will have an opportunity to take the quintessential Petra photo from the low view point across to the Treasury. We will walk back through the winding Siq to the main gate where this tour will end.
