Stop for photo. Candidasa is often not visited by travelers and is made up of a string of villages along the coast that offer a nice change of pace to areas like Kuta. Stop At: Tirta Gangga
Tirta Gangga literally translates to water from the Ganges and it is a site of some reverence for the Hindu Balinese. Water palace built in 1948 by the Raja of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. Tirta Gangga is a maze of pools and fountains surrounded by a lush garden and stone carvings and statues. The Monkey Forest is a tropical rain forest with tall and shady tropical trees. This forest is habitat to a group of monkeys that you can get up close and personal with! This temple compound consists of a petirtaan (bathing structure), famous for it's holy spring water, where Balinese Hindus go to for ritual purification. The temple pond has a spring flowing with fresh water regularly, which Balinese Hindus consider to be holy (amritha). In this Temple, you can watch how Balinese locals conduct a holy blessing.
