Stop At: Miyajima
You will understand the Japanese cultures in depth by visiting and comparing two key cultural places, Itsukushima Shrine floating in the sea for Shinto and Daishoin Temple founded 1,200 years ago for Buddhism. We not only look at the cultural objects, such as Torii, Komainu, Shimenawa, but also actually experience what local people do, such as worship, Omikuji (future telling paper strip) at shrine, incense stick & candle services and strike bell at temple. It is fun. There are so-called "Power Spots (or spiritual spaces)" to feel nature power and also mysterious spaces developed by the long histories in these places. We go through those to enjoy the cultures. While walking, you will encounter many wild deer passing you. It is not allowed to feed them in Miyajima unlike in Nara. People and deer are coexisting in this island. Off course, you won't miss the local sweets known as Miyajima Special before leaving the island.
Duration: 3 hour
Stop At:
Before moving to Hiroshima central by train, we have lunch here. Most of the visitors try Okonomiyaki (Hiroshima Special) for lunch. Our guide explains the differences between Hiroshima-style and Osaka-style Okomoniyakis in the cooking methods and the histories. If you prefer different dishes, we can go there. Lunch is not included in the tour price.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Hiroshima Castle
You enjoy the beautiful exterior view and the defense devices hidden in the Japanese castle & stonewall designs. You also listen to the interesting histories of the Castle/Feudal Lord (castle's owner). Let's feed carp in the castle moat. They are always super hungry and desperately catch it. You will definitely be astonished to see their reactions. After the play with carp, we move to the central area by monorail. We don't enter the tower due to the time constraint.
Duration: 15 minutes
Stop At: Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park
You will visit the ground zero, the Atomic Bomb Dome, Memorial Tower for Mobilized Students, Motoyasu River and many other monuments. During the tour, we will use a slide with cartoon-like illustrations and photos in addition to our verbal guiding. It helps you understand the anecdotes and history very clearly. At Children's Peace Monument (or one thousand paper crane monument) we have Folded Paper Crane Workshop. You fold a paper crane then dedicate it to the monument and strike the bell. We move to the Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb victims which is the main monument of the Peace Memorial Park, then you enter the Peace Memorial Museum. We then go back to Hiroshima Station.
