Day 1 Santa Marta - Mamey - Camp 1

Stop At:

7.6 Km - 04 h Initial elevation: 140 m Highest altitude: 450 mslm Difficulty: Moderate Rest: Camp 1 Transport will pick you up from your accommodation in Santa Marta between 7:00 and 9:00 in the morning to start your journey to the Colombian jungle. Once you have gathered the whole group, you will begin your 2.5-hour car trip to Mamey in a 4x4 off-road vehicle. Upon arrival, you will eat a meal to gather some strength for the beginning of your journey. In the next 4 hours, you will go on a trip through rivers and waterfalls where you will be able to swim, enjoy wildlife and amazing nature. Around 6:30 pm you will reach “Camp 1”, where you will have lunch and spend the night in hammocks or beds with mosquito nets.

Day 2 Camp 1 - Sierra Nevada - Mutanzi - Camp 3

Stop At: Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta

15.2 Km - 07 h Initial elevation: 500 m Highest altitude: 900 mslm Difficulty: Moderate Rest: Camp 3 On this day at dawn, the whole group will have breakfast and will start hiking early in the morning to avoid the hottest hours and comfortably get to the next place. The second-day trek lasts 7 hours through the picturesque Sierra Nevada jungle and the Buritaca Valley. Along the way, you’ll stop for lunch at “Camp 2” and pass the local village of Mutanzi, where you’ll have the chance to know the lifestyle of the Kogui community with whom you will spend some time and learn about their culture. The hike ends when you arrive at “Camp 3”, where you will eat dinner and spend the night in comfy camps.

Day 3 Camp 3 - Lost City - Camp 2

10 Km - 06 h Initial elevation: 900 m Highest altitude: 1200 mslm Difficulty: Moderate Rest: Camp 2 We will have breakfast early and start the trek up the famous 1200 steps that lead up to the amazing Ciudad Perdida. There we will have a professional guided tour and learn about the history and secrets of this magical place. At the end of the tour, we will have free time to explore the Lost City on our own for the rest of the morning. After we stayed at the lost city for a little while longer, we will return to “Campamento 2 (Camp 2)” where we are going to eat dinner and spend the night, before we embark on the last stretch to Santa Marta on the next day.

Day 4 Camp 2 - Mamey - Santa Marta

14.8 Km - 07 h Initial elevation: 470 m Highest altitude: 470 m Difficulty: Moderate After breakfast, you will start the last, 7-hour trip, during which you will flow waterfalls and rivers on your way to Mamey. Van will wait for you on the spot which after a meal will take you back to Santa Marta. After arriving at the coastal city, you will say goodbye to the guide and the group of travelers who accompanied you during these four days.
