Stop At: Ragusa Ibla

The first stop of the tour will be Ragusa Ibla. This is the old part of the city and an undisputed reality of Baroque art. Here you can admire numerous eighteenth-century churches and buildings on which important sculptors and architects have worked, helping to create the famous "Barocco del Val di Noto", of which the Duomo of San Giorgio is the most representative expression.

Stop At: Modica

Soon after you will discover another jewel of the Sicilian Baroque: Modica. On the inhabited center stand the facades of the churches of San Giorgio and San Pietro and the ruins of the castle never rebuilt. Then we will head towards the capital of Baroque: Noto. This city is dotted with numerous historic buildings of great artistic importance: the palaces, churches, terraces and stairways have all been built with local stone, with a golden color tending to rosé: the whole city seems to be a single architectural complex. The discovery of the Baroque begins from Porta Reale: the real city gate. Along the Main Street there is the Cathedral of San Nicolò, whose construction began at the end of 1600. The most important building is Palazzo Ducezio, seat of the town hall, built in 1700, which recalls the style of ancient French palaces. A few steps away there is Via Nicolaci, famous throughout the world for the Infiorata.
