Stop At: Noto
Then we will head towards the capital of Baroque: Noto. This city is dotted with numerous historic buildings of great artistic importance: the palaces, churches, terraces and stairways have all been built with local stone, with a golden color tending to rosé: the whole city seems to be a single architectural complex. The discovery of the Baroque begins from Porta Reale: the real city gate. Along the Main Street there is the Cathedral of San Nicolò, whose construction began at the end of 1600. The most important building is Palazzo Ducezio, seat of the town hall, built in 1700, which recalls the style of ancient French palaces. A few steps away there is Via Nicolaci, famous throughout the world for the Infiorata.
