The hands were actually not carved from stone but built by fibreglass and mesh steels, according to TA Landscape Architecture, the company designed the bridge. The project, which was built by the Sun World from 2009, sits on top of a forest that was once developed by French colonists as a hill station in 1919. The only remnants of the French occupants that tourists can see in the area from a cable car are the crumbling remains of their holiday homes.
