Itinerary Details

This tour begins in the heart of George Town, where you’ll meet a personal guide for an afternoon departure. Learn about this history of the city as you walk to the first stop of the day, the Khoo Kongsi, or clan house. Find out how the Kongsi clans played a central role in local history, and became the first port of call for generations of Chinese immigrants to Penang. Stroll the clan jetties to traditional wooden houses where those immigrants’ descendants still live and work.

Keep walking to the whitewashed Kapitan Keling Mosque; the whitewashed building was built by Indian Muslim troops working for the East India Company in 1901, and remains one of the largest, most visited mosques in the city. Continue to the vibrant market streets of little India, then follow narrow alleyways into the UNESCO-listed heritage zone.
