Pass By: Virpazar
The journey begins in Virpazar, the tiny fishing village located in the heart of Lake Skadar. Leave the village pier as you glide along a narrow river channel fringed by reeds and a row of willows.
Pass By:
Exiting the channel unravels the deep blue waters of Lake Skadar; faded mountains far away in Albania; and Vranjina - island, proudly standing against the largest lake in southern Europe.
Pass By:
Going left, under the Tanki Rt bridge and through the field of water chestnuts, you will discover the 18th-century fortress Lesendro. This beauty still hides the secret of Njegošes' eternal sorrow. The birds, lined up along the ruins, defiantly spread their wings, showing you that you are in their realm.
Stop At: Skadar Lake National Park
Three nearby islets and the view behind them will help you understand why Skadar Lake is one of the most beautiful places in Montenegro. An endless carpet of water lilies with their large, floating, dark green leaves will take your breath away.
Duration: 5 hour
Stop At: Rijeka Crnojevica
As you pass through the picturesque fjord Pavlova strana you will reach Rijeka Crnojevića - an old fisherman's village. Take your time and explore this beautiful spot, just a few kilometers from the historical capital, Cetinje. In ancient times, an important trading route was going through it. The old stone bridge was built because of that fact in the 15th century, yet looks impressive. The first printing house in Southeastern Europe was also in Rijeka. In 1949 the first book on the Slavic language was printed there - Oktoih prvoglasnik (Octoechos of The First Tome). Nowadays, its historical significance, authentic architecture, and beautiful natural surroundings create a perfect ambiance for you to try Montenegrin specialties. After exploring the village, climb aboard your boat and head back to Virpazar.
