Stop At: Baphuon, Angkor Archaelogical Park, Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia

Baphoun is the vast mountain temple near the center of Angkor Thom. It’s under France’s restoration project, it is possible to access the entrance gate and the elevated walkway entrance and there is a huge reclining Buddha on the west side of the temple.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Terrace of the Elephants, Angkor Thom, Siem Reap Cambodia

The Elephant Terrace is the heart of Angkor Thom and looks out over the Royal Square. It marks the entrance to the Royal Palace and was the focal point for royal receptions. The carvings of elephants along its walls give its modern name.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor Archaeological Park, Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia

Ta Prohm Temple (Tomb Raider, filmed by Angelina Julie) was built in the 12th century by Jayavarman VII as a royal monastery. It was dedicated to the King’s mother. This temple was chosen to be left in its natural state as an example of how most of Angkor looked, upon its rediscovery in the 18th century.

Duration: 2 hours

Pass By: Srah Srang, Siem Reap Cambodia

Srang Srang the royal pond in 12th century!

Stop At: Banteay Srei, Siem Reap Cambodia

Banteay Srei, known as the “Citadel of Women” or “Citadel of Beauty”, presumably referring to its size and delicacy of its decoration. Unlike the major sites of Angkor, Banteay Srei was not a Royal Temple. It was built not by kings, but by Brahmin priests. Often described in terms as the ‘Jewel of Khmer Art”, Banteay Srei is a temple of great beauty and compares with little else in Angkor.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Cambodia Landmine Museum, Angkor National Park, 7km south of Banteay Srey Temple, Siem Reap Cambodia

Landmine Museum , the Cambodia Landmine Museum and Cambodian Self Help Demining are distinctly separate NGOs. They are headquartered in separate locations, run by different individuals (although Aki Ra is the MD), and funded entirely separately. The Museum and Child Relief Center is funded by revenues gained from ticket sales, donations, and sales from the small shop.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Angkor Wat, Sangkat Nokor Thum, Siem Reap Cambodia

Angkor Wat temple, built between the 9th and 14th centuries, the temples of Angkor are among the grandest monuments ever constructed. The entire complex covers approximately 164sq miles with over 200 temples. Among the 30 temples that are accessible today, the most famous is Angkor Wat, the largest Hindu temple in the world.

Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Stop At: Phnom Bakheng, Angkor Archaeological Park, Siem Reap 17000 Cambodia

Sunset watching at Bakheng Mountain is always a fun thing to do, especially when traveling. But at Angkor Wat, watching the sun going down is a very interesting event. Not because the sun looks prettier from there, but because there are so many people gathering for it.

Where do these people gather? At a temple called Phnom Bakheng (a short distance from the Angkor temple), and this place has been famous for a while now as the spot for sunset watching.

Some people think Phnom Bakheng is overrated and too crowded, while others think it's only so-so. But I found Phnom Bakheng to be a great place for an Angkor Wat sunset!

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
