Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo - Nuwara Eliya

Stop At: Ramboda Waterfall, Pussellawa Sri Lanka
Rivers, as they flow over uneven ground or down mountains, often split into tributaries or form waterfalls. Sometimes two tributaries of the same river may form twin waterfalls very close to each other as the water spills down cliffs and rocks. However, it is quite uncommon for the tributaries to combine after forming the waterfalls making a Y shape. This unique and beautiful sight can be seen at the Pussellawa area of Nuwara Eliya, at the Ramboda Pass. The Ramboda Falls in Sri Lanka or Ramboda Ella or Puna Ella as these falls are called is created from Puna Oya, a tributary of Kothmale Oya. It makes a twin with Dunsinane Falls which is created by Pundalu Oya, also a tributary of Kothmale River, and combines at the base to form a Y shape.

Victoria Park is old, as in extremely old. It was initially the research field for the Hakgala Botanical Garden, but was renamed after Queen Victoria in 1897. It covers a pretty large area spanning over 25 acres. Victoria Park is home to arguably the widest array flowers in the country, with just the Peradeniya botanical gardens for competition. Flowers that you'll most likely come across are roses, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, Peruvian lilies as well as rarer flowers like rhododendrons and snapdragons. Nuwara Eliya is one of the best vacation destinations to get away from the city and relax, and taking a walk through the Victoria Park is one of the best ways to do just that.
