Itinerary

Day 1: Baga gazariin chuluu

Stop At: Baga Gazriin Chuluu (Small Rock Formation), Delgertsogt Mongolia
Leave the UB city and drive to Baga gazariin Chuluu. It is located in the center of Dundgobi province. The area is 300 square km wide, 15 km long, 10 km wide granite Stone Mountain elevated at 1768m above sea level. Surrounded by plain areas with cliffs and higher rocks. It is one of the ancient historical lands, rock images, burial mounds other sightseeing and became one of the specially protected areas of Mongolia in 1999.
Leisure time for rock climbing and hiking activities if time is available.

Day 2: Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa)

Stop At: White stupa, Ulziit, Mongolia
After breakfast, we will head to South Gobi. It is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east which from a distance seems to be the ruins of the ancient city. Over thousands of years, the wind and water have created this amazing structure and it was seabed with sedimentary places created by millions of years and different colors of the ground represent different times. The formation is over 60m at its highest point and continues 400m.

Day 3: Vulture Canyon

Stop At: Yolin Am Ice Field, Mongolia
After breakfast, we will drive to Dalanzadgad which is a central province of the South Gobi area. The Gobi Three Beautiful Mountain ranges are definitely one of the most interesting places to visit in Southern Gobi and Yoliin Am is a pearl. The valley is located within Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park. Come and see yourself! You need to wear your hiking shoes and full of ice down the creek in July, the last ice melted the end of June. You can hike track all the way down the gorge about 5-8km. Then you can understand, what an interesting contrast of landscapes! Amazing experience to see this river of ice in the desert and a great place for views and a walk.

Day 4: Khongor Sand Dunes

Stop At: Khongor Els, Mongolia
After breakfast, we will head to Khongor sand dunes which are located in the more deep area in Gobi Guvrvansaikhan National Park. Also, it is called Duut Mankhan is well known as the (Singing Sands)The sand dunes extend to over 965 square km area,180 km long and can reach 20km wide. It is one of the largest sandy areas of Mongolia. The wind continuously blows from North towards West and the dunes can reach breathtaking heights, between 100 and 300 meters. The inhabitant's name after their imposing dunes Singing Dunes due to the noise made by the wind when it moves the sand. Kongor River flows along the dunes on a few kilometers and forms an oasis in the middle of the dried landscape. Experience camel riding and cultural experience! Day 5: Bayan Zag (Flaming Cliffs)

Stop At: Flaming Cliffs, Mongolia
After breakfast, we will drive to Bayan Zag. There are so many interesting things about the Gobi Desert in Mongolia. Bayan Zag or the Flaming Cliff is one of them. It was given this name by American paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrew, who visited in 1922. The area is most famous for yielding the first discovery of dinosaur eggs. The nickname refers to the red or orange color of the sandstone cliffs, especially at a sunset. The erosion created on the ragged rocks from reddish sediment is an enriching sight that can be enjoyed in the morning or evening sun, given that the weather is pleasant. It is important fossil finds have been made. We will walk for a while and optional for hiking activity.

Day 6: Ruins of the Ongi Monastery

Stop At: Ongi Monastery, Saikhan-Ovoo Mongolia
After breakfast, we will drive to the Ruins of Ongi Monastery is located on the banks of the Ongiin River and it is halfway point between two major travel destinations the South Gobi and Kharakhorum city. It was destroyed by the communist purges of the 1930s and is being restored by the residing monks. Built-in the 17th century, the Ongi Monastery was among the largest temples in the country and was a home for over 1000 monks. Not much left of the monastery and there are only two monks that reside at the temple. Today there is a small temple rebuilt on the site, a stupa to remember those who were killed, and a ger containing a small museum of objects that were rescued. The place is impressive and the site- basalt rocks and a desert river are beautiful.

Day 7: Orkhon Waterfall

Stop At: Orkhon Waterfall, Orkhon River Valley, Bat Ulzii Mongolia
After breakfast we will drive to Orkhon Waterfall, also called Ulaan Tsutgalan is one of the best sights in central Mongolia. About 25m downstream from the waterfall you can climb down to the bottom of the gorge, 22m deep and dotted with pine trees. Approximately 20.000 years ago, the waterfall was formed due to earthquakes and merged from volcanic eruptions. However, the water doesn’t run all year and will only start to flow after the first good summer rain. Best time to see it in late July and August. The road to the waterfall is not easily accessible, owing to the rocky surface of the area along the Orkhon River itself is the longest river in Mongolia with a length of 1124km and it has been protected since 2006 as a National Park. Scenic and untouched natural distinct spots allow good opportunities for hiking and horseback riding. The valley is known as the home of Nomadic culture. Yak herder nomads are common.

Day 8: Kharkhorin City

Stop At: Kharkhorin, Kharkhorin, Ovorkhangai Province
After breakfast, we will drive to Kharkhorin town which is located in Uvurkhangai province, Mongolia. You will see ancient old Buddhist temple museum and modern Kharkhorin history museum as well. Back in the 13th century, Kharkhorin was constructed as a proper capital city that attracted traders, dignitaries, and skilled workers from across Asia and even Europe. Erdene Zuu temple was built 16th-century using materials from the destroyed city but was later badly damaged during the Stalinist purges of 1937, when the monks were either killed or deported to Siberia. The Khakhorin city was the capital of the Great Mongol Empire during the Chinggis Khaan’s period.
