The Khmer Rouge turned Toul Sleng High School into a center for interrogation, torture and death. Thousands of photo of victims can be seen in each room. You will walk slowly and investigate the materials used for interrogation of prisoners. After that we travel about 15km toward southwest of Phnom Penh we will arrive at Choeung Ek. The memorial at Choeung Ek just outside Phnom Penh was an orchard! And a Chinese cemetery prior to 1975. During the Khmer Rouge regime, it became one of the killing fields the site of the brutal executions of more than 17,000 individuals, most of whom first suffered through torture and deprivation in Toul Sleng Prison. Choeung Ek is now a group of mass graves and a memorial stupa containing thousands of skulls. Come back to hotel and drop off.

Stop At: Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum

Tuol Sleng was a former high school that the Khmer Rouge turned into a centre for interrogation, torture and death. Today it is a museum of torture and serves to remind visitors of the terrible atrocities that came to pass in Cambodia. 17,000 people passed through the gates of this prison and only seven lived to tell the tale.

Stop At: Choeung Ek Genocidal Center

Prisoners from Tuol Sleng followed this same route to their fate. An old Chinese cemetery, Choeng Ek was turned into an extermination camp for political prisoners. The remains of 8985 people were exhumed from mass graves and are kept in a memorial stupa here. Despite the horrors of the past, it is a peaceful place to go and a tranquil spot to reflect on the tragic events that engulfed Cambodia and its people.
