Stop At: Shakadang Trail, Taroko National Park, Fushi Village, Xiulin Township, 972 Taiwan

We will take a walk along Shakadang Trail, where the crystal clear blue water of Liwu River is running beside you. This river has cut through the marble over millions of years, and created the deep, narrow gorge.

Stop At: Yanzihkou Trail (Swallow Grotto), Xincheng Township Xiulin Township, Hualien City Taiwan

Before lunch, we will walk through the tunnel of Swallow Grotto, where you will enjoy a stunning view of the cliffs reaching up to the sky. The potholes on the cliff surface were created by the ground water and the rapid stream of the river. This was fabulous. When booking it seemed expensive but on reflections absolutely worth it. We were a party of four ladies two of whom are very experienced walkers and finished the tour wanting to visit Taiwan again to go hiking, the mountains were stunning and there were many walking trails. The train journey is a little long and therefore slightly boring but worth the trip. We had an air-conditioned car with driver plus our guide. Ling Ling was very experienced and knowledgeable, good english and with a lovely sense of humour. The tour did not disappoint with stunning views. We picked this tour as it included some walking all of which I managed despite poor knees I'd class them as family walks. We were right to do so, all of the tour coaches we saw seemed to just stop at odd points and let people get out to take photos. We had the please of walking in the gorge with plenty of time for pics and conversation. This tour lost one star only because we could not hear our tour guide when in the car. She is a small lady and the four of us were in a large 7 seater car with two of us in the back. A microphone would work better or she needs to sit in-between not in the front.

Great day out with stunning scenery after the hustle bustle of Taepei City. Our guide David Harn was excellent, interested and enthusiastic without being pushy. The day was ours and we were offered flexibility wherever possible should we have wished to influence the itinerary.

We did not go to the beach or the marble factory. We were rushed the entire time and the driver drove so slow it cut into our time in the park. The lunch was horrible......For the money we paid I was very disappointed.....

One of the most beautiful sights! Our tour guide, Michael, was terrific and I highly recommend him and the tour. There were a lot of traffic delays due to road work in the park so a couple of the planned stops were not made including the marble store...a tourist shop but that was no ones fault. The Eternal Springs Shrine is unbelievably photogenic and Swallows Gorge, well, you have to see it. Lunch was very good. All in all, this is a must see!!

Thanks Viator! We had a fantastic time! Our guide was massively accomodating, informative and caring. The tour itself went swimmingly well without any hiccups and the Gorge was breathtaking. I highly recommend anyone taking this tour to view the Tawanese countryside and the marvel of the Taroko Gorge ! Thanks again and we look forward to booking our next Viator tour!
