This 5 day Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu is a spectacular trek in the Andean mountains combined with a unique Peruvian food experience. Day 1 CUSCO – MOLLEPATA - SORAYPAMPA
Stop At: Cusco
For this adventure we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. to go by bus to Mollepata. Begin a spectacular scenic drive through the plains of Anta with beautiful panoramic views of the majestic Salkantay and other snow-capped mountains and the Apurimac River valley. After a two and a half hour drive, we stop at Mollepata for breakfast for last minute supplies, to stretch our legs, or to use the restrooms, before continuing to Marcocasa. There we will meet our support staff. They will load the equipment on horses and mules. Around 9:30 a.m., we will start our trek to Soraypampa (3900 meters above sea level). If we keep a regular pace, it will take us approximately 4 hours to reach Soraypampa, the first camp where you will have lunch after lunch in the afternoon.

Stop At:
We will go up to Humantay Lake (4200 masl), which takes 3 hours of walking from the camp to see the Humantay Glacier Lake. But if we keep a slow pace; We will have lunch halfway between Soraypampa and Marco Casa, perhaps after 3 hours of walking. And after that we walked two and a half hours more to Soraypampa. Anyway, our camp will be in Soraypampa. The sleeping tents will be ready and we will have a warm and delicious dinner in the evening.

Day 2 SORAYPAMPA - SALKANTAY PASS - HUAYRAMACHAY - CHAULLAY
Stop At: Salkantay Trail
Today early in the morning we will wake you up with coca tea. Around 6:00 we will have a nutritious breakfast around 7:00 am we will start the most difficult day of the entire Salkantay trek; we will be walking to the highest point of the trek. After 6 kilometers uphill through the magnificent scenery of the Rocky Mountains and enjoy the view of Mount Salkantay. We reached the top of the hike. We will appreciate spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snow-capped peaks of Salkantay (6264 meters above sea level) which is known as the second highest mountain in the Cusco region. After 2 hours downhill around 1:00 p.m. We will have our delicious Peruvian lunch, in the area called Huayracmachay. Then we continue our walk to Chaullay, approximately 3 hours of descent, we will arrive at our camp in Chaullay = 2900 masl, where we will have the tents ready to sleep.

Day 3 CHAULLAY - COLPAPAMPA - THE BEACH - SANTA TERESA
Stop At:
Around 7:30 a.m. We will start our hike to La Playa through the Santa Teresa valley. We will walk approximately 6 hours during the walk we will see: waterfalls, orchids, coffee, banana, avocado plantations and we will taste the famous passion fruit or granadilla and we will also see a town called Colpapampa also called "ceja cloud forest" where you can see waterfalls, waters hot springs, fruit trees, varied flora and birds. If we are lucky, we will be able to see the famous bird called "El Gallo de las Rocas". After lunch at La playa, we will take a local transport to Santa Teresa. In the afternoon we can go to the hot springs of Santa Teresa to enjoy it. Then back to camp.

Day 4 SANTA TERESA - HYDROELECTRIC - HOT WATERS
Stop At: Aguas Calientes
After our delicious breakfast, we will walk approximately 7 hours. Around 8:30 a.m., we start our trek to the town of Colpani, we will have the opportunity to see coca, tangerine, orange and yucca farms. And a beautiful view of the Santa Teresa valley. We continue along the banks of the Vilcanota River until we reach the Oroya (cable bridge) and then we continue to Hydroelectric where we will have lunch. After lunch we will walk along the train track but at the base of Machupicchu and Waynapicchu mountain from the road we will see Machupicchu. After two and a half hours of walking we will be in the town of Aguas Calientes: the base city of Machupicchu to spend the night at the hotel and have dinner at the local restaurant.

Day 5 HOT WATERS - MACHU PICCHU - OLLANTAYTAMBO – CUSCO
Stop At: Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu
Today early in the morning after breakfast at the hotel, go with your guide to take the bus to Machupicchu. Either way, we will be the first in Machupicchu to enjoy the sunrise and you will have a two and a half hour guided tour. Then you will have free time to explore Machupicchu on your own or, if you wish, climb the Huaynapicchu mountain, (extra cost). After Machupicchu, you will return to Aguas Calientes to take a train to Ollantaytambo and from there by bus back to Cuzco. Our driver will wait in Ollantaytambo to direct you to your hotel in Cuzco.
