Beautiful landscapes give rise to a varied vegetation. In addition, there is a variety of shrubs such as el calafate, romerillo, michay, sarsaparilla; associated with them, you can see a significant number of herbs and plants (about 200) that bloom colorfully in spring. All these lands are today part of the Magallanes National Reserve, created by Supreme Decree in 1932, with the aim of protecting the Lynch lagoon basin, which is the main water supplier of the city. Its surface was expanded in 1939, currently covering 20,878 hectares.

Near the city of Punta Arenas, is located the winter center of the Club Andino de Punta Arenas, a place that exhibits one of the few ski fields in the world with ocean views and a wonderful panoramic view of the city and its surroundings, from its summit. Regularly visited by tourists of various nationalities, it presents one of the most fantastic observation points of nature and regional landscapes, possible activities to do in winter and summer.
