Your ride starts with an exhilarating 6km road descent from the summit of Mt Wellington. Then, your guides lead you on an enchanting 11km off-road ride, descending through stunning temperate rainforest. Starting 1270 metres above sea level, the summit experience and road descent have breathtaking views over Hobart and way, way, beyond. The off-road rainforest ride gently meanders downhill through incredible temperature rainforest. You'll experience breathtaking vistas, towering eucalyptus forests, gigantic ferns, a waterfall, walk under historic aqueducts, gaze into crystal clear babbling streams, and catch glimpses of curious local wildlife. The tour starts with a fun & interesting bus journey to the summit. Our experienced local guides will lead you all the way, providing commentary on the history, and nature of the area. In between rides, we stop off at the Lost Freight Cafe, where you'll have time to grab some refreshments. The ride finishes back at our Hobart office.

Your tour starts at our office in South Hobart. Here you'll receive a tour briefing, plus a helmet and gloves. At the office, you'll also be introduced to your bike and familiarised with brakes and gears.

Then, you'll board our minibus and be shuttled to the summit of Mt. Wellington. The first ride is a descent on the asphalt road from the summit. Our minibus will follow the group down the road, providing support if required. If you prefer not to ride the road descent, you can opt to come down in our support vehicle.

After the road descent, you'll take a 15-minute bus journey to the next ride. The second trail is off-road, and gently descends through temperate rainforest. The off-road trail is pretty smooth, wide, has a gentle gradient, and is easy to ride. The surface is mostly compacted dirt, with some looser gravel sections.

Both rides just require good basic bike handling skills. It's downhill all the way, so only a basic fitness level is required.

If the summit is closed due to bad weather, instead, we do a longer ride on the off-road rainforest trail. This ensures you still have a thrilling ride and experience the mountain's stunning nature.
