Mostar is famous for the impressive Ottoman–style bridge spanning the Neretva river, which was destroyed during the war in Bosnia and Hertzegovina but subsequently rebuilt. Mostar is undoubtedly the most beautiful city in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Take in the buzz of the local bazaar, and have a great shopping experience. You will not be disappointed. Visit Medugorje (optional for parties wishing to visit), a site of spiritual interest since 1981 when the virgin Mary is reported to have appeared to local children, and see the Mount of Appearance. Head to Pocitelj, a fascinating fortified town, with its scattered homes and a beautiful mosque. We visit the Blagaj Tekija monastery which was built around 1520, with elements of Ottoman architecture and Mediterranean style architecture - a Bosnian national monument. A wonderful day of East and West.
