The Siege of Leningrad, also known as the Leningrad Blockade was a prolonged military blockade undertaken mainly by the German Army Group North against Leningrad (is the former name of Saint Petersburg). It was one of the longest and most destructive sieges in history and possibly the costliest in terms of casualties.

This tour’s about survival in deadly conditions during the World War II in Leningrad. You’ll see the bomb shelters, the way people got informed about each attack. You’ll find out what they ate and where they were buried. World-famous masterpieces survived somehow as well. We’ll always praise heroic 900 days of withstanding the siege. School life, food delivery, family stories – everything about that horror time you’ll discover in memorials throughout the city.

Really interesting tour and flexible tour guide and staff. Igor was super friendly, knowledgeable and flexible despite mad pre-new year traffic. Viator staff was also very helpful in organising the trip and helped connecting us to the guides directly.

The imperial grandness of Saint Petersburg can overwhelm. I wanted my college sons to understand the immense suffering endured during the 900 day seige. The humble museum definitely gave insight and the huge cemetery that broadcast symphony music was moving.
