A 200 meters high stone cliff with a cave complex in it is located above the source and it is an unforgettable sight for all visitors. The water comes from a 15 meters wide cave, it is freezing cold and clean and a lot of endemic species of trout found their habitat in it. Next to the source, a 16th century Dervish house – Tekke is still one of the most mystical places as well as one of the most important cultural and historical monuments in all of Bosnia&Herzegovina. An opportunity to have fantastic coffee/tea with a traditional local fig-cake “smokvara” at the base of the spring of magnificent river Buna should not be missed.

The fortress was built in the late 14th century upon the order of the famous Bosnian King Tvrtko but Počitelj is mentioned for the first time in writing in 1444 as the seat of the parish. Počitelj is a real, open-air museum and a much cherished place by numerous artists who, in this magical scenery, find inspiration for their works of art. Besides its beautiful oriental architecture and Ottoman feel, Počitelj hosts the longest operating art colony in southeast Europe. Artists from around the world gather here to paint, among other things but importantly, the shiny red pomegranates and figs that grow in abundance on the hills of Pocitelj.
