Stop At: Punta Cana
Once the customers have been picked up from their respective hotels in Punta Cana, we will reach a meeting point where we will have the opportunity to use the bathroom, have a coffee or just relax. The guide will welcome us all and once we are ready to go, we will get back on the bus to start our adventure. The first destination of the day will be the beautiful “Cueva de la Maravillas”, considered one of the most beautiful caves in the Dominican Republic. The cave is located in the San Pedro region, about an hour and a half bus ride from Punta Cana. During the bus trip the guide will give us a lesson on the history, culture and typical life in the Dominican Republic and will be happy to answer any questions we would like to ask him. We will pass the immense sugar cane plantations of the eastern region of the country and from the windows we will be able to appreciate the flora and fauna of this side of the Dominican Republic.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Cueva de las Maravillas
Having reached our first destination, inside the cave we will discover three attractions in one: the cave itself, the iguanarium, and the famous labyrinth. You will be amazed by the beauty of the stalactites and stalagmites, as well as by the ancient paintings left by the Taino civilization many centuries ago. The impressive geological formations, with a depth of 25 meters underground, exhibit more than 500 pictographs of great aesthetic and archaeological value. The iguanarium is a refuge to preserve the Cyclura cornuta iguanas, which are in danger of extinction in the Dominican Republic. There are currently more than 400 iguanas on display; some of them even roam freely throughout the park. The labyrinth has an extension of 1,632 linear meters. The goal is to reach the palm tree located in the center of the maze. You will have around 10 minutes to make it! And if you get lost, don’t worry! The supervisor of the labyrinth will be there to assist you in finding the way out.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: La Romana
After visiting to the Cueva de las Maravillas, we will move to La Romana region to reach our other main destination: the charming village of Altos de Chavon. Before arriving at the village we will make a strategic stop inside the city of la Romana in a souvenir shop to try the famous Dominican Spirit Mamajuana and maybe buy some typical products to take home.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Altos de Chavon
Once ready we will move towards the famous Casa de Campo resort to reach the beautiful village of Altos de Chavon. Here we will enjoy a light lunch with 4 different options of choice between pasta, pizza, salad or sandwich that the guide will ask you to choose on the bus before arriving at the restaurant (we definitely suggest the pasta!). After lunch we will spend the afternoon exploring the village of Altos de Chavon. We will walk through its narrow, medieval-style streets and have time to visit an art gallery, the small museum about Dominican history, the small church where Michael Jackson got married, and the famous amphitheater, used for concerts by famous stars such as Frank Sinatra, Carlos Santana, and Ricky Martin, among others.
Duration: 3 hour
Stop At: La Romana
We will make a last stop in a chocolate factory where we will be able to learn the complete process of transformation and processing of chocolate, from the cacao beans to the final product and we will be able to taste different products obtained from its processing (we recommend the chocolate tea!).
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Punta Cana
After that we will go back one last time to the bus to start our way back to Punta Cana. Once in Punta Cana we will drop off the customers at their hotel with a process that can take from 10 minutes to 1 hour more depending on the hotel location.
