Fall in love with one of the most impressive cities in the northern region. Guimarães is proudly the cradle of nationality, since in the distant twelfth century, here we gained independence from the kingdom of León, having been established as the capital of the Portucalense County. Since then, the city has maintained its defensive walls, castle, burgh and workers/peasants quarters until the 19th century. Today, we can still marvel at its medieval genesis, with the small squares and narrow streets, in addition to admiring the great monuments and cultural legacy present in every corner of the city. On this visit we'll explore the entire area within the walls touching the points of interest and curiosities, to culminate in a detailed visit to the two most emblematic monuments of Guimarães - Castle (10th century) and Palace of the Dukes of Bragança (15th century).
