The Monte Toboggans Sledges first originated in the early 19th century when they were used as first means of "downhill" public transportation by the local residents who wanted to travel quickly from the village of Monte to the city of Funchal. Presently and for a number of years now, the Sledges are used to transport thousands of tourists every year, seeking a ride full of emotions, adrenaline and an unforgettable experience with splendid views over the city and beyond. We Partner with Carreiros do Monte to give you this thrilling adventure. We will take a walk around Largo da Fonte, a very famous square and beautiful with its gardens, then we go see the beautiful church of Monte where we can find the last tomb of the last Austro-Hungarian emperor. In the end you will take the fun ride of going down in the Toboggan sled. Note: Please note that it is not allowed to ride the biggest sled when you are only one person or two person.
