Stop At: Hue Imperial City (The Citadel)

Our private Hue Full Day City Tour has to start at the 19th-century-built Citadel of Hue which surrounds the Imperial City, the Purple Forbidden Palace, and various ancient monuments. More recently in 1968, during the Tet Offensive, the known “Battle of Hue” resulted in enormous damage to both the city and Citadel – you will see signs of this and rebuilding works to this day.

Stop At: Nine Dynastic Urns

Especially, admire the most important artwork inside The Hue Citadel, the Nine Dynastic Urns, created by Emperor Minh Mang in 1836, which is a symbol of the sovereignty of the dynasty.

Stop At: Thien Mu Pagoda

We must eventually leave the Citadel of Hue and its intriguing history to visit the very special Thien Mu (Heavenly Lady) pagoda overlooking the Perfume River. It is a 7-story high tower originally built in 1601. If time permits we will arrange a private Dragon boat trip along the Perfume River from the city to Pagoda for you to enjoy the peaceful vibe of the city from the boat.

Returning to Hue city, we will have lunch at our favorite Bun Bo Hue restaurant, So 1 Ly Thuong Kiet. It is a Hue specialty that you have to try while in the city.

Stop At: Tomb of Minh Mang

Ming Mang Tomb, which is 20 kilometers away from Hue Center, is known for its red and yellow lacquer features in its temples. The temple monuments are symmetrically arranged on an axis with lush pine forests in the surroundings. You'll learn about Minh Mang's character and his contribution to the country during his reign from 1820-1840.

The Tomb of Fusion Art is what we can describe as Khai Dinh Tomb. This Hue Royal Tomb is a special one that was built while Vietnam was colonized by the French. You will be amazed by its fusion of art and architecture.

Stop At: Tomb of Tu Duc

In the latter half of your private Hue Full Day City Tour, we will take you to visit Tu Duc royal tomb. Located in a narrow valley 8 km from Hue in Duong Xuan Thuong village, Tu Duc’s tomb is one of the most beautiful royal complexes and is embedded in a lush pine forest. Your local guide will tell you the story of Emperor Tu Duc and his role in the occupation of the French in Indochina in 1857. You will also have a chance to visit the Incense village and make this craft work.
