A Tokyo native, Emi is very passionate about cooking Japanese cuisine and enjoys meeting travelers. Emi will greet you in her home kitchen with a welcome drink of barley tea. Emi will give you an introduction to the history and culture of Japanese cuisine and sushi. Then, during your sushi class, learn to make a Japanese meal of three different types of sushi, miso soup and tamagoyaki, Japanese omelette. Your sushi making class will last about 1.5 hours. Join Emi and learn to make nigiri, temari and gunkanmaki with fresh seafood and vegetables. Your class will conclude with a steaming cup of green tea. Enjoy this memorable sushi making culinary experience with an expert local cook.

Emi will greet you at the door and welcome you into her kitchen studio. Learn to cook three types of traditional Japanese sushi topped with fish or vegetables: temari zushi (ball-shaped sushi), nigiri zushi (hand-formed sushi) and gunkan-maki, rice balls wrapped with nori and topped with soft seafood such as salmon roe, sea urchin, etc. You will also learn to prepare miso soup and chawanmushi, Japanese steamed egg custard. Leave with a full stomach and fond memories of this authentic sushi making experience! After years of learning from three renowned chefs, Emi became a culinary expert who can prepare almost any authentic Japanese dish. A Tokyo native, Emi enjoys meeting travelers and learning about other cultures. She adores food from every corner of the globe but is also passionate about Japanese cuisine and teas, in addition to cats, photography and hiking! She has a deep interest in nutrition science and values using the freshest, top quality ingredients. Your sushi meal is guaranteed to be fresh and colorful. Emi serves her meals on fine dining tableware, cutlery and utensils, so have your cameras ready for a fun photo journey of Japanese sushi.  Please note this is a group experience so you may be joined by others. Since this is a seafood centric meal, Emi is unable to offer a vegetarian menu.
