We go in our modern minibuses to the legendary Estancia Harberton, always accompanied by our specialized guides. Upon arrival at the Estancia we will sail from the pier to Isla Martillo, a 15-minute ride, a semi-rigid boat. On the island we will walk for 1 hour among Papua and Magellanic penguins. The penguins settle on the island during the summer, sharing the habitat with other species of birds such as skua (their main predator), petrels, cormorants, vultures and South American terns. Martillo Island is home to Magellanic penguins between September and April. The colony has approximately 1,000 nests and is one of the 3 Magellanic penguin colonies in Tierra del Fuego. There is also a colony of 16 pairs of Gentoo penguins (red-beak ) unique in South America
