Robben Island is one of the biggest attractions for tourists when visiting South Africa and on this tour, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the prison museum, take the Long March to Freedom in the footsteps of former president Nelson Mandela and view his prison cell where he lived for 18 years of his 27 year sentence. The Robben Island tour takes up to 4 hours including return ferry boat transfers. The tour also offers a unique experience to explore the Cape Town city and enjoy beautiful views from Table Mountain.

Robben Island Museum

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Cape Town between 07:30am and 08:00am - Please can you kindly wait in the hotel lobby. We will travel to the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island, where you will proceed directly to the boat departures line. Once you have boarded the shared boat you will set sail on the open sea to Robben Island Museum. Upon your arrival, you will disembark the boat and be guided on a bus by a resident Robben Island Tour Guide for a tour of the island. The guide will provide live commentary about Robben Island and its history. The tour will culminate with a view of the prison cell where former President Nelson Mandela was held as a prisoner and an opportunity to take a walk in his historical footsteps on The Long March to Freedom. Once the tour of Robben Island has concluded, you will embark the boat for your return back to the V&A Waterfront. The entire tour duration including the boat trips is approximately 4-hours.
