What You Will Do

Join a 2-hour small group tour of the township of Soweto, described as the “New York of Africa", guided by a Soweto resident guide. Take in the sights of the city where Mandela once lived and Mahatma Gandhi started his legal career. Complete the day and see the sights of Johannesburg at your own pace with a trip on the hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus tour. Learn the history of Johannesburg from the audio commentary on board the double decker sightseeing bus. Ride through the city's historic neighbourhoods and see fascinating attractions, many related to the struggle against apartheid. Get on and off as much as you like. Reconnect with Nelson Mandela's past, and get an understanding of where he started his fight against apartheid at his family home in Soweto, 8115 Vilakazi street. A short distance up the road is Tutu House, the home of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu. Soweto is home to thousands of South Africans and the site of some of the most iconic events in the nation’s history.

Joburg + Soweto in one day

My fiancé and I had a great experience! The tour was very informative, and we had the chance to see the most important attractions in Joburg in just one day. It was very easy to switch buses, and the schedule was followed punctually. We also visited Soweto with TD and Linda—they were very nice and explained what life is like in that part of the city. We definitely recommend this experience!

We have been 4 weeks in Africa and this was by far the best, of the many tours we have been on. Our guides SK and Kizmo had such a great energy and very informative. Made it fun for everyone on board and were good at getting the kids involved.

Great way to see Johannesburg safely, for all the main attractions.

We also did the Soweto tour, which was really informative, interesting and most of all safe. We had DT (guide) and Vincent (bus driver) who were fantastic. DT was friendly, funny, knowledgeable and most of all had safety as his top priority for everybody on board. Vincent's driving was excellent.

Such a smooth transition from the big red bus to the small red bus! If you have a day in Johannesburg, I'd definitely recommend it! Thank you!
