Stone Town

30 minutes

I would be happy to guide you through this cultural city and show you everything that the stone city has to offer. The Old Town is the historical center of Zanzibar City, the capital of the Zanzibar Islands. As a major trading center for spice, silk, and slave trade routes for over a millennium, the Old City has been a unique meeting place, blending African, Indian, Arab, and European cultures. It is one of the few ancient cities left in Africa. Its beauty and historical value have made it a good place on the UNESCO world heritage list. Not only is this city beautiful to the eyes, with old colonial buildings and doors carved with Zanzibari beauty, but your senses will be overwhelmed by the smell of the sea and perfumes and the calls to prayer from the minarets.

Booked a walking tour of Stone Town with Ahmed and we both really enjoyed the tour. He paced it according to our interests and gave us a lot of information on the rich history, culture and the current struggles Zanzibarians are facing. We finished off and said goodbye at the Freddy Mercury Museum which we viewed independently.
We originally booked the 1 pm tour but changed it to the 9 am, it was already very hot so we highly recommend the morning if you are there during their hot summer season.
Thanks for the great tour!

Me an my girlfriend spent a day in Stone Town during our Zanzibar vacation. We booked a tour with Ahmad. Honestly speaking he saved our day, when we arrived in the City, we first thought that this would be a wasted day (die tonthe appearance of the City loud, dirty, ugly) but once the tour started and Ahmad explained us everything we were interested in, we learned a lot and the three hours passed by super fast. And we also saw some nice and beautiful places. It was a really great tour offered by a great guide.
