Small Group Tour: Mutianyu Great Wall, Summer Palace & Bird Nest

I am very happy that I chose this tour, read lots of good reviews and were not disappointed. The tour guide was great, knowledgeable and fun, very helpful as well, told me that I could just purchase the forbidden city ticket at the ticket office on the day, so I went there the next day, it was taking a bit of time for the line, but I got the ticket! I was frustrated that I couldn’t book the ticket online, thank you very much, Keith, otherwise I would miss the forbidden city this time.
Also, the group size was small and the people in the group are also very nice, we had good chat along the trip. The hotel pickup and drop-off make everything so easy!
Highly recommended anyone who comes to Beijing!

This was a great tour with Keith as our guide. We had a prompt hotel pickup as promised at 7 am. There were 3 other guests that joined our party of 3 in the van. It was a 1.5 hour drive to the Great Wall. Keith took the sky chair with us to the top and made sure we had good info on the meetup after 2 hours to explore the wall. Our party had an amazing Chinese lunch at a restaurant included in the ticket. The food was great and included chicken and vegetarian dishes. We hoped in the car for a 20 min ride to a Chinese tea house where we were introduced to various traditional teas and information. Our group ended up buying but there was no pressure to do so. Another 1.5 hour drive brought us to the Summer Palace where Keith gave us on-ear listening devices for a 1 hour walk of the grounds with history. It was quite crowded but Keith did a good job of finding us space. After that tour it was another 45 mins to our hotel (Renaissance near the Forbidden City). We left our hotel at 7 am and were returned to the hotel about 5 pm. Overall a great experience. I would recommend to anyone.

Keith was a fantastic guide. Tour was incredible value overall, making a major trip highlight smooth, effortless and highly enjoyable. Strongly recommend.

The trip was excellent from start to finish. When booking the person I chatted with online was professional and very helpful. This meant that when it came to the actual trip everything was as expected. The tour guide and driver- Keith was excellent. He kept me informed re pick up etc, I was picked up on time in a very comfortable car. Keith was an excellent guide answering many questions that the group asked and informative on the places visited. I would therefore highly recommend anyone visiting Beijing on their own to use Viator and in particular Keith as a guide. In hindsight, I wish I had booked my other tour with you as I did not get to experience visiting the Forbidden City as expected!!

Our tour guide Keith was amazing and made the tour worthwhile. He shared a lot of details about the places we visited with factual history and humor. He made sure everyone was taken care of and made the tour memorable. Highly recommend taking this tour to visit the less crowded part of the Great Wall!

Very nice and enjoyable tour. Our tour guide Suzie was great, always friendly and very helpful. Went tonthe Great Wall in the morning when it was not too crowded and did the Summer Palace afterwards. Suzie had good tips for souvenir shopping. Don‘t miss a chinese tea ceremony!

Keith was an amazing tour guide and they knew just when to take us to the great wall. We got there just before the big crowds on a chinese holiday and we got some great photos.

Tour was an efficient way to see three things in the same day. The driver was mostly that, driving us to the sights, and providing some information along the way. We had initially booked for a Wednesday, and the tour company reached out to see if we could change to the Thursday, as there was a smaller group that day (it ended up being only one person, so our tour was a total of three people, which felt almost private). The hotel pick up and drop off was convenient.

Keith was great tour guide. Great driver, know when to talk and knows everything you ask. Also the smallest details.

This was an amazing experience for me. I was traveling to Beijing by myself for business and had a couple of days for some sightseeing. I had read all of the reviews about his tour and Keith (your guide) and thought is sounded perfect. Since it was off-peak season in Beijing, there were only 3 other guests in my small group -- and it was a great group of individuals.

We first went to Summer Palace, and it was so beautiful with so much history. Keith did a great job giving us the perfect amount of detail and showed us all the important sites and took photos for us as well. Then, we drove by "the Nest" where the Olympics took place.

Then, off to the Great Wall. Once we arrived at the entrance, we stopped for a quick lunch at a local Chinese restaurant. Keith had ordered food for us all to share. We then took a chair lift up to the top for access to the Great Wall. It was spectacular. We got to spend a little over 2 hours exploring on our own. That was plenty of time. It was very cold the day I was there, so make sure you plan for the weather. And wear comfortable shoes -- you will be going up and down many steps. Finally, there was the option to take the chair lift back down, or to ride the toboggan. I highly suggest the toboggan. It was a fun and unique experience for all ages with no skill necessary.

As a tour guide, Keith was awesome. His English is very good too. I would highly recommend doing this as a small group tour vs. a larger group. There was a fun comradery among the small group of people in my group.

Comfortable transport, tour guide has good English, Keith took us to a quieter part of the wall. Nice lunch. Keith is a great guide. Overall a great day.

The Great Walk part of this tour was brilliant. The wall wasn’t crowded at all in fact I got loads of empty ie no people views and we had 2 hours free time to do as much or as little walking on the well as we wanted. Our guide Keith was great and explained everything very well to us and was also very knowledgeable about the Summer palace which we visited in the morning. Lunch was plentiful and delicious and shared by our group of 6 people.
The bird’s nest stadium was just a photo stop at the roadside but good to see it as it was where the 2008 Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies were held.

This tour was very easy going, brilliant guide. Everything was planned out to the tee, with plenty of time to see all the main attractions. Thanks Keith!
