Located in the southeastern Fujian Province, Anxi is a small and mountainous county with a tea farming history dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907). Today this county produces 15,000 tons of oolong tea annually with its 16,700 acres of tea gardens. The name you hear most often is probably Tieguanyin (Iron Goddess tea), a premium variety of Oolong tea. Anxi is hailed as the birthplace of this special tea. Most of the population of the county is involved in some aspect of tea cultivation. Below is a popular place to go list: • Bama Tea Garden and Factory: one of the leading tea manufacturers in Anxi. You can stroll in the garden and taste the various Oolong tea here and see the complete progress of tea planting and making. • Hong'en Rock: view the beautiful scenery. This area is amazingly lush and green, making for a great way to appreciate both provincial landscapes and a unique aspect of China. There are many unique landscapes near the rock, for example, the inscriptions and cliff stone carving from Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. It is a scenic spot with Qingshui Rock Temple as the main body, with the culture of the ancestors of Qingshui as its characteristic, integrating religious pilgrimage, ecological tourism, folk display, leisure and vacation as one. • Anxi Tea Grand View Garden: located in Fengguan Mountain on the north side of Fengcheng City, covering an area of 11 mu, consists of tea garden, tea workshop and phoenix garden. Specializing in scientific education and recreation, it serves as an encyclopedia of tea culture. Stepping into the breed garden, you can find the best tea trees of China.
