Elephanta Caves: Island Tour with a Local Guide

This tour was amazing. They were professional they picked us up in a lovely air conditioned vehicle. Our driver Pranav was fantastic and he turned us over to Trikal who did a wonderful job guiding us through the cave/temple. His Dad and cousin both have shops along the stairs and we bought some lovely jewelry and a brass statue. Pranav got us some sugar cane juice which I had been wanting to try so that was a nice bonus! If you are in Mumbai - book it you will be glad you did.

I visited Elephanta Cave with Mr Harish as a guide on 22.12.2024. He is very proactive & explained everything pleasantly & meaningfully. His positive engagement with the schluptures & us was very intresting. His knowledge is very sound about history & he is able to connect the things chronologically.

Pankaj was on time meeting us from the boat. The caves were very interesting and the carvings were beautiful. I got some nice photos and Pankaj provided some good photo shots. He provided details on the main sculptures which would have been difficult to spot without the guide.

I had an amazing experience on Elephanta island. My guide Pankaj is an expert on the caves and could answer all of my questions very nicely. The caves themselves are stunning and have an incredible backstory. The island is also very beautiful and peaceful. I definitely recommend getting a guid to have a better understanding of what you are looking at. All in all wonderful experience, I recommend checking it out when you have the time

Pankaj was a great guide. We learned a lot of shiva and the elephanta cave from him and he always takes care that the group is together. We can totally recommend Pankaj as guide for elephanta. Thank you a lot! Only one important thing to know if you are in Mumbai for the first time: Think if you want to visit elephanta really on holiday. We did and it was quite crowded, watch your time for the boat- otherwise you wait longer to get back to Mumbai.

I want to extend a big thank you to Trikal for an unforgettable tour of the Elephant Caves. The boat ride over was such a fun experience, with beautiful views of the water and Mumbai. Once we arrived, there were charming shops and restaurants that added to the local atmosphere, and it was a delight to watch the playful monkeys interacting with the environment. Once inside the caves, Trikal’s deep knowledge truly shined. He took the time to explain the rich history and cultural significance behind each intricate carving, making the experience not only visually stunning but educational as well. His passion for the subject made the tour feel personal and engaging. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore and learn in a fun, immersive way!

If I was doubting to take this tour it would be a wrong decision, this is great !! I strongly recommend it! The driver Dinesh is super driver and once you get to the Elephanta island, the guide Mike which is a local guide, took us for the whole explanation, he took us very good photos also, do not hesitate to book this tour!

What a great day I had today on tour. I was picked up promptly at my hotel by Lucas and taking to the port accompanied by Abhishek. Both Lucas and Abhishek are so knowledgeable and not only helped me learn more about the experience I was going to partake in at the island but gave me many interesting facts along the way to the port. Once on the island we met our guide who is a local who has lived on the island all his life and whose family goes back 4 generations! What a treat! It was a great experience which I highly recommend all take part in when in the area.

Unfortunately I couldn't make the tour due to sickness. When I informed the guide they gladly advised that they would refund my fee. This is truly amazing and made my day. I am so gutted that I couldn't make the tour. Such kindness doesn't happen everyday. I'm sure this tour would have been truly magical. Thanks for the refund it is greatly appreciated.

The entire process from the booking to returning to the hotel was fantastic. Chirag was patient with my needs and ensured that I did not miss out on the last slot of the day despite me booking it late. I had opted for a pickup and drop service as well. Shoeb was my driver and he was fantastic.

Nikhil, my tour guide was fantastic. He was highly knowledgeable about the caves and had a unique perspective as he was a local. He answered the questions I had well and guided the tour well.
