Customer Reviews

Excellent tour to Taman Negara with wonderful accommodation

Our trip to Taman Negara was absolutely amazing and wonderul, an unforgettable event.
We highly appreciated the perfect organization, that started that we received a detailed schedule of the whole trip in PDF format in advance.
The pickup at the hotel was punctual and also the drive to the first stop where our bus driver handed us over to the transfer boat was smooth.

Absolutely impressive was the friendlyness of the entire staff at Taman Negara Resort, including the tour guides.
The level of accommodation was excellent considering the resort is nestled in the jungle.
It was very clean and above all comfortable. The food was excellent and there was always something for every taste.
Also in the restaurant we were always served very friendly.
We can recommend the tour and the whole stay with a clear conscience.

The trip was well organised and with a good variety of activities. We enjoyed it. The last stage of the journey to the resort is by river in a motorised canoe, arriving at a large and very comfortable resort lodge at the main entry to the National Park. Accommodation is in individual two person cabins with air conditioners and western style toilets and nicely finished in timber and woven rattan with a rustic appearance but very comfortable. This is not bush camping. Meals are mostly included and are in the open air restaurant where snacks and drinks can also be purchased at reasonable prices. The food is good and includes Malay, Indian and Western dishes. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Supplies like insect repellant can be bought in the Mini-Mart. The night walk was the best opportunity to see wildlife and many people come to the resort just for this walk - although most of our sightings were just in and around the resort and included close encounters with monkeys, a wild boar and many smaller creatures. The instructions for the trip do need updating. Most of the canopy walk has re-opened in the last month (Nov 2019) after a year out of operation and operates six days a week (not Fridays), although it closes for safety during rain or storms. The canopy walk is quite adventurous - a narrow suspension footbridge suspended 50 m up in the canopy. We took presents for the visit to the Orang Asli village as suggested, but nobody else did and since there are many more visitors each day than there are villagers it really would not be a good idea for everybody to take presents of biscuits etc. It would be much better if the resort were to organise a fund to assist with the children's educational expenses and seek donations. Lastly, best to ignore the suggestion to take a fishing rod. We went to some trouble to obtain and take one, only to find that there was very little opportunity for fishing and it caused some embarassment with the Malay staff who culturally find it difficult to say "no." It took four days of questions to finally establish that fishing is not allowed on Fridays, it is not allowed on rivers within the National Park and there is not really any easy access for fishing on the main river, Sungei Temberling, unless you hire a boat. There are fish in the main river which the locals catch with nets so if you are keen you might have success - but this is not a fishing trip.

Great activities and excellent guides so well worth the stay.
If you can, take your own water bottle and sterilising tablets. Most of the rubbish we saw in bags was single use plastic water bottles.
