What You Will Do

Amphawa is one of the most popular floating market near Bangkok, with visitors almost exclusively Thai. Located 50 km from Bangkok this once small village was apparently already present in the mid-Seventeenth Century. It has become such a magnet for Thai weekenders that food stalls have grown from the riverbanks and stretched far into the surrounding streets. • Visit Thailand's floating markets on an immersive half day trip from Bangkok • Shop by boat along a riverbank in a longtail boat at a floating market • Buy plenty of unique and inexpensive traditional Thai snacks - the perfect souveniers from your trip! • Watch a train pass through the middle of a bustling market at Maeklong Railway Market

Itinerary

Meeting Point

1

Bangkok

30 minutes

Depart Bangkok at 11.30 AM and travel by air-conditioned vehicle to Amphawa Floating Market to join the locals as they buy and sell from boats on the canals of the Mea Klong River. Stroll along the boardwalk to watch the scenes unfold as farmers and fishermen sell snacks such as fried sea mussels and papaya salad from their boats.  The main draw is of course eating seafood grilled precariously on wooden boats moored around the famous central bridge, serving an appetizing array of huge prawns, shellfish and squid. From noon until late in the evening, the smell is simply irresistible and customers flock to each side of the river all day long. Itinerary: 11:30 - Pick up from the various hotel or meeting point
