Altbier safari in Düsseldorf

Had an excellent time, our guide was informative and funny. A great way to see some of the city and check out the altbier. Recommended.

My 20yr old daughter and I joined a German speaking group, our choice as I speak a little and she is studying German as part of degree, friendly group who where patient as guide helped translate what my daughter couldn’t,during the guides translating for us he said … I’m finding it difficult to concentrate … indicating my daughters cleavage! I said excuse me that’s my daughter you are taking about, his answer, yes you should be proud…
Awkward inappropriate , in-front of everyone…. It spoilt a great tour, I felt like throwing the beer in his face… take your eyes up and look at the face and listen to the person…

Very large group, difficult to hear the guide and the beers were very similar, not something to repeat. Smaller groups would be better.

The tour was very great. Nice information and nice ambiance. Only disadvantage: at one point I couldnt really concentrate because I was getting horny from the tourguide ;)

We had a great time with Andy, our tour guide. It was a very mixed group with couples, 2 groups of friend and a bachalorette party. Also various ages. Andy mixed up English and German so everyone could understand. He told us a lot about the history of the city and the breweries. We tasted several different alt beers. Ending with the most bitter one. It was great fun.

Great tour. Would highly recommend. Tour guide was fun and knowledgeable. 5 different Altbier and pubs was a good night out.

We booked the tour with an English speaking guide to learn about genuine German beer. Frankly, it felt as though he had little interest in our presence. At the first brewery after providing samples he simply turned his back on the entire group for a full 5-plus minutes. I am sure I wasn't the only one who noticed this. I was tempted to walk away at that moment but opted to give it a shot thinking maybe it was me. As the tour continued I felt even worse. While he was very well informed this is not the right job for him!

My son and I stopped over in Dusseldorf on a Friday night, on our way to see Dortmund play the following day. So glad we did. A beautiful city with a wonderful culture. This tour helped us understand so much more than if we'd just done our own thing for the night. Horst was our guide. We joined a party of about 20 people, all of whom were either local or from elsewhere in Germany. Horst switched between languages with ease, he was funny and very informative. Thanks Horst!

Brilliant fun and very informative.
We had a great night with Horst who looked after us. The tour covered some of the history of Düsseldorf too, which added to the experience.
Great for families, friends, couples and groups.

Really enjoyed the brewery tour! Jurgen was knowledgeable and fun! A great way to sample some delicious local beers!

Andreas (“Andy”) was punctual and friendly. We had to wait a few minutes for the last guests to arrive, but then the tour went smoothly. We moved quickly from brewery to brewery sampling various dunkel (dark) beers. We learned about the brewing process (they use roasted barley) to achieve the dark beer look and taste). Overall, we enjoyed going to the various beer halls and even returned to one of them (Zum Schlüssel) the next day for a meal and more beer.

Such a lovely treat after a conference. Highly recommended. Sophisticated tour of the big 5 Alt bier breweries. Interesting and humorous facts. Relaxing but still professional.

We were met by our host/guide who was called "Horst"? who initially was quiet but when the tour began he sprang into action . His English was excellent as most of the tour party were English or English speaking. The party size was 16 , any more than this I think would have been too many, I would have preferred a smaller party to be honest, non the less I think a very interesting tour with a a smattering of local history of the city as well as the brauhaus visits. The brewing process explained in simple terms was good enough for the audience. and the subtle differences in taste was also explained. the length of the tour of two hours was just right. I did the tour in Cologne last year so the rivalry between the two cities made the tour more interesting for me. Value for money, that's subjective, but I'm glad I did this tour.

The beer Safari was so fun! We weren't sure if we would like Alt Beer, but it was delicious :) Our guide, Andy, was as informative as he was charming. We really had a blast and learned a lot about old town Düsseldorf!

Our guide was great! He gave us lots of great historical info in-between stops. He was knowledgeable and fun to be around! We loved the beers and the culture around it in this town. We would definitely do it again!

The experience was great, the guide was really good. Friendly, telling all the stories and funny jokes about the area and their cultural particularity. Even thought it was raining the whole time we had a great time walking to each brewery and getting to know the Altbier culture

The weather was frightful but our guide Kim was delightful. We learned about the different ‘house’ breweries and tasted beer from all of them. The breweries were all within easy walking distances from each other. We also learned about the history of Düsseldorf. If we had to do this tour again, I would recommend doing it at the beginning of our visit so that we could have a better knowledge of Düsseldorf for the remainder of our stay.
