Excellent tour, different interesting beers and an exciting journey through the history of St. Pauli.

Heike was able to tell us a lot about the neighbourhood and the history of St.Pauli. It was very relaxed and interesting as well.

Our guide Bully showed us the "Kiez" with all interesting information and we had a great time with him.

Ask for Geraldine, we had such a great time with her as our guide. The tour was interesting, funny and full of insider knowledge. We loved it – as we loved St. Pauli!

I took the tour on one freezing night this past January. Our guide, Jonas, a local, was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing his own angle on the life in St.Pauli. The tour also included a visit to a historic pub that was like stepping into a time warp. All in all, a pleasant and informative experience. The shop offers alongside plenty of bric-a-brac also profoundly interesting books of local residents' photo portraits in b/w accompanied by their life stories; some of them walked on the light side of life and others, on the dark one. Also on sale is a book of posters used over several decades by the local brewery that brim with wry local humour.

I called into the facility a couple of times during my brief city break with my 14 year old son. I found that both of the gentlemen working there are extremely friendly and knowledgeable regarding St. Pauli and the surrounding districts. My son is very interested in street art and chatted with the guys about local artists and locations to find interesting examples. I highly recommend visiting this site before setting out on an exploration of the area.

I have been to Hamburg many times. Mostly the first place i went was tourist office to get information. They are very great service. I got all brochures and maps. So i can explore city easier.

Then i visited the Hafen city and St. Pauli. It is very great city to relax.

Man on the move

There are many, many options for this type of tour of the St. Pauli quarter and Reeperbahn street of Hamburg. However, for me I am sure we chose the best one out there. It is the English speaking tour ran by the St. Pauli Tourist Office located at Wohlwillstrasse 1. We had a wonderful local to the area (lives there) guide named Claudia. We had a small group of only eight, which is typical for the tour group sizes of this tour company. By being a small group we actually had a closer bond, and to me a much deeper experience. We had in our group English, German, American, and Netherlanders. We were able to move easier and we were less intrusive than the big groups of people of the other tour companies. We all got to sit together at the same table in a bar (big groups can't do that), we all got to ask questions and get answers, we all got to participate, and we all laughed and learned a lot. Claudia was a wealth of knowledge. She is/was a world traveler. She was personable and you could tell she loves St. Pauli. She spoke very good English and if she wanted to expand on the range of her vocabulary she would engage the group for alternative words. For instance the German word Türsteher. The guy at/on the door of the establishments. We in US typically call them a Bouncer, or Security. In the US they are gate keepers and filter who gets in, or does not get in. In Germany, in this area, they are the opposite. The Türsteher works to get people inside. As a group we came up with many different English words and settled on an 'Enticer'. What was fun about this simple interactive task, was it bettered our understanding of the differences in cultures, in the words we use, and their meanings. And Claudia did this over and over through the night. Claudia loves St. Pauli and it shows in how she talks of the history of the place and the people. She engaged the group and answered every question asked. We were always safe, we got to drink fair priced beer together in a bar owned by an old Hamburg sailor, we got to hear, learn, and see the vibrant St. Pauli district. Yes the quarter has the red-light district, and many partying revelers, but it also has a very interesting history and Claudia presented all in a fair light. If you already know you want this type of tour, the Reeperbahn and St. Pauli nightlife, then I recommend the St. Pauli Tourist Office. If possible get Claudia and tell her Tony from Seattle area recommended her!

The people who work there were a great deal of help. They gave me a lot of info and clues on what's worth seeing in St. Pauli

the office offers guided tours by locals through the famous neighbourhood of st.pauli. they are also very helpful with questions about what to in hamburg, st.pauli n general if you want to see something a bit of the beaten track. downstairs is a used vinyl store. you can also buy most of the concert tickets here.
In the shop you can find a nice collection of local products from st.pauli like coffee, champagne, books, jewelry and clothes.
they have free detailed maps of the area st. pauli, schanzenviertel and the harbour.
