Salzburg Sightseeing Day Trip from Munich by Rail

Lucia the tour guide was outstanding. She did a fantastic job explaining how our day was going to progress and throughout the day she gave us a preview of how to get the most out of each phase of the tour. The city was wonderful with lots to see and do. The food was also amazing.

The day trip was amazing! Maxine is a fabulous guide and I highly recommend going with her. Despite the awful problems with the German rail that directly impacted our tour, she handled it was grace and understanding, and more than compensation for that snafu - completely out of her control 5*

Saltzburg was a charming beautiful town! And our tour guide, Luthia (hope I am spelling correctly!) was the best. Informative, caring and truly enthusiastic about helping us have the best experience possible.

It had been a very fulfilling trip albeit a little too short as there were so many things to see in Salzburg. Our guide Elizabeth was very knowledgeable in every little detail about the city, and was also very open in helping us making choices among the various sites that we could visit. We also got very lucky that the train only stopped for 1 minute for passport check on our way back and we arrived 15 minutes sooner than was planned. I would definitely recommend the tour as well as Elizabeth to my friends.

Perfect day in Salzburg. Our guide Elisabeth gave us great guidance on what to do in our spare time in the city.

Maxine our guide was wonderful.
There was an issue with the trains and that caused us a two hour delay getting to Salzburg . Maxine stayed an extra hour in Salzburg to give us extra time .
She was very knowledgeable and kept us informed of what was happening the entire time .
Maxine recommended St . Peter’s restaurant for lunch . It is the oldest restaurant in the world . Totally worth the experience . It was expensive but a one time thing for us ! It was beautiful and decorated for Christmas .

Didnt really enjoy format of tour though
Not for older adults hopping in and off 4 buses and 3 trains. Trains issue i think could have been resolved by cancelling tour. I understand previous 3 days were cancelled due to known renovations on line. Checking for completion of this annual work before sending people out would have been smarter

Starting place was easy to find. Our tour guide Maxine was great! Very knowledgeable about history of Salzburg (not just the Sound of Music) shared good tips for eating, pictures and walking whilist there.

Salzberg was beautiful to visit. Guide Mark was very informative with a good personality.

Seats should be reserved especially on the return journey, as it was a full train, difficult to get a seat, some passengers had to stand.

Nice overview of the city with great information about local restaurants and activities. Our host was very accommodating and knowledgeable.

Learning about all the important info about the diff sites. The guide explained everything with such detail and passion

The only thing to stop this review getting 5 'star' was the weather, but that's no-one's fault & just bad luck! Sadly the drizzle & grey sky's meant we didn't see the fantastic views. BUT, everything else was spot on and well worth the trip. Carlota was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable & funny, & Salzburg is a lovely little place, so pretty & full of history alongside some great little shops too!

My wife and I took the Salzburg tour with German Mark. What a great guide. He was so knowledgeable about everything about Salzburg and its history. He is an excellent speaker with superb English. I highly recommend this tour and Mark. Salzburg is a beautiful city.

What a fantastic day from start to finish we had the most enjoyable day. It was very well organised from meeting up right to the end of the trip. Our guide German Mark was very knowledgable and made the trip very interesting with all the information and pictures he shared with us . Nothing was too much trouble and answered the questions easily and informative. We took the train which was a pleasant journey. Take a snack with you as there are no eating facilities on board they find you time to do this as part the trip, right at the station where you board there is a good coffee shop and bakery or right by the pick up point there are bakeries.
In Salzburg it’s a beautiful place to visit with plenty of interesting points you also get spare time to explore on your own as well. We made full use of this and went to the monastery from sound of music well worth the small walk up the hill, and the views are stunning. We also had beautiful cake and coffee in there delightful coffee shops in the square . The only thing I would say is if you need the toilet have some change 50cents as the main toilets at the bottom of the hill by the square charge and the assistant was not the Most friendly person . The day is long but very full and you have the train journey to relax which was pleasant with great views going. Overall a fantastic day in Salzburg which for us a family of 4 the highlight of our trip . An Excellent guide German Mark a lovely group of people. Just perfect. Well worth the money , extremely value for Money.

Salzburg is a great place to window shop, stroll the passageways, and just take in the atmosphere. The central old town area is really beautiful, with a photo opportunity at every turn. Our time was limited so we skipped the castle. It also rained non-stop so we put our umbrellas to good use. No better way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Even with it being a holiday (we didn’t realize it), and it being super crowded, we had a wonderful day in Salzburg. German Mark was our guide and he was absolutely fantastic! He made sure we all were together by doing numerous head checks (which became funny), he took time to come to each group or individual to see if they had questions and to see what they really wanted to see, he was knowledgeable and shared so many interesting details about what we were seeing and where we were going. Including lots of historical facts!
Loved seeing so many sites in Salzburg and learning about its history.

Good and knowledgeable guide who spoke good English. Some interesting history of Mozart and salsburg.
