Laganas Zakynthos: Marathonissi, Keri Caves and Turtles Spotting

I can only say how disappointing this trip was and not as advertised. The first part of the trip was circling around the small port of Lagunos for half an hour with lots of other boats in a vain attempt to catch a sight of a turtle. If any where indeed around the port, then the number of boats would have scared them away. Needless to say we didn't see a single turtle, which was the whole point of this trip!

We then proceeded to venture along the coast to a few caves and eventually stopped for a swim. A spot away from any other boats which had anchored for their guests to swim and snorkel. It suddenly became apparent why no other boats had stopped in our location. After 1 other guest entered the sea I quickly followed. We both then discovered a large amount of stinging jellyfish which left us, along with other guests, stung in several places. A very painful experience. 

After which the captain decided not to stop again, then after a short journey further along the coast to see another cave, we returned across the bay and anchored up on a small beach with a large amount of other tour boats and very little space to sunbathe. Incredibly out of the '3hr' boat trip, over a hour of it was spent here!

We then returned back to the departure location, after once again circling in vain to catch sight of turtles.

With all this in mind, I would claim that this booking was no where near as advertised, caused injury to myself, partner and mostly a waste of time.

It was a great boat trip although we only saw one turtle.
The best moment is when we can swim in the ocean (not in the crowded island).
Good choice in terms of quality/price.

We seen one turtle in the sea then went through some caves stopped of at a beach for an hour then back to shore. Sorry after the caves stopped for a swim. Captain was very nice. Not great for people with walking difficulties etc as you have to walk into the sea and climb ladder to get on the boat

Overall enjoyable with the exception of the turtle sighting.
We saw a loggerhead turtle which was really good but personally I didn’t like the fact it was surrounded by boats for 5 minutes with one of the other boat moving about quickly and using his propeller in excessive bursts.
Enjoyed the Keri caves and really enjoyed the snorkelling.
We had 1 hour 10 mins on the Turtle Island was ok but quite crowded.

There was one turtle surrounded by up to 8 boats, and not just speedboats but larger carriers. The poor turle stayed under the water until it had to come up for air. The noise of the engines and the polution from the fule. It really wasn't the trip I was expecting and I felt ashamed that I took part.

Then on the nesting island it was packed with boats and people. The nesting sites where cornered off with a small piece os string, but again it just felt so wrong and the turtles should be more protected.

I would advise anyone NOT to go on these trips. It wasn't just this provider but all the boats trips where the same.

I really don't know what to think of the experience. Honestly. All of Laganas beach felt like a horrible neon touristic place. About the turtles; this company canceled the boat trip because of too much wind, they didn't even want to leave but couldn't say why. It was my last day on the island so I went to another company. They did leave with a boat with a 3 in 1 formula (turtle Island, Keri caves and turtle spotting). It was a very stressful experience (because of the wind). They hurried to the caves and just left us with a bunch of other tourists on the turtle island. No one knew when there would be a boat to come and get us again. We had to ask captains ourselves to get on a boat again. The "captain" clearly didn't care, took the boat maybe 10-15 minutes at the turtles watching spot, no turtles were there. Then without any explanation took us back to land. End of trip.
Again it was NOT with this company but I felt all the boats did the same thing. It felt like a major touristic place and no company really cared about tourists. They just make you pay for a hasty and bad experience.
Maybe this company does better? But honestly. They could have said "we can go with the boat (like the other companies) but because of the waves it will be impossible to see turtles so honestly a waste of your money." But no.. Your just a tourist so you don't get any more explanation then "canceled, too much wind" while other boats still go on the water. Very very confusing.

Go to the shipwreck with porto maries cruise and fun! Hire a quad! That was truly beautiful.
Maybe this was an extra bad experience because of the weather but only the lack of explaining anything.. They just don't care. It's a shame. Huge difference with trips I took on par example Santorini.

The trip was cancelled and many people were not informed. When we went to the meeting point there was nobody there to inform about this change.
Incredibly unprofessional. Don't waste your time, there are plenty of other companies offering exactly the same.

minus 10, it was to crowded, the boat is soo small and the driver was terrible there was water everywhere in the boat, nowhere to put your bag, everything was rushed, we had to go to a different location with a bus, for the ride back we had to change buses 3 times because there weren’t enough of them and were told that we have to get of of the bus, didn’t even see turtles. I don’t recommend at all.

We had a difficult time working with this tour operator and found them to be unresponsive. I would not recommend using them.

Lovely boat trip was a nice small group only around 20 passengers had glass bottom also so you could get a clips of the turtles. We did see a couple the boat driver was very good he tried really hard to find some turtles. Some great swim stops, nice relaxing day. Defiantly recommended if you done want a big boat with loads of people.

It was a good experience with the turtles.

A very good 3 hour trip where we did see a sea turtle but bitter sweet as it felt like a chasing frenzy with all the tourist boats fighting to see it! Swimming at Keri caves and turtle island were lovely.

I booked this trip via Trip Advisor and would thoroughly recommend this method. It was with Laganas Boat Tours and they also have a stand on Laganas beach. A really great trip. We saw a turtle and there were two good swimming stops, with refreshments at the second. A lovely small boat with ample space. Highly recommended for value and quality. You have to wade through the sea to the boat so wear swimwear

Booked 0900 trip the morning before only to have a confirmation come through after midnight saying arranged at 1200 then no further response until 0830 saying 0900 ok. Despite this our reservation wasn’t on the list when we turned up. Beats me how the lady on the beach is still in a job as she appeared very rude, arranging queues and then repeatedly changing them and dealing with customers out of order anyway. She also got very argumentative with some others on the trip who (quite justifiably) challenged her in Greek. The trip itself was enjoyable enough and the caves and beach visited very nice. However the turtle spotting consisted of many boats chasing around a few turtles near a harbour and was definitely not a chance to interact with turtles in the water as we had been led to believe might happen. Just set yourself realistic expectations would be my advice if booking.

This is a good trip and you’re out for 2.5 hours - we did see a very large turtle heading out and on the way back (you don’t get in and swim with them…)

The trip included two stops, one at a small beach where turtles lay their eggs and you can get refreshments/food from floating bar/cafes and another one to swim / snorkel. The caves were also very impressive.

Snorkelling equipment isn’t supplied so don’t forget your own.

Overall it’s a good mini trip and recommend the 9am one before the blazing heat arrives…meeting point was Laganas beach at the bottom of the strip just to the left.

The trip was amaizing, stunning views and we spotted 2 turtles. 100% recommended.

The only downside is the lady in the check-in point. She seems to be mad at the world and is very rude to everyone. Its a pity because the trip itself is 5 stars.

A bit less turtles than I expected. It’s cool we’ve seen 1 but it was definitely not the focus of the trip. I would enjoy some commentary from the side of the captain too.
