Iceland’s most recent volcanic eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula started on 16 March. It has occurred between Hagafell and Stóra-Skógfell mountains, just a few kilometers northeast of Grindavik, and is currently ongoing.

Reykjanes Peninsula
We are offering a sightseeing flight to the eruption site in the North of Gríndavík at Sundhnúkur. Please keep in mind that eruptions are an event of nature and it may or may not be active at the time of your tour and we can‘t guarantee that you will see lava flowing. The eruption is NOT active at the moment. This eruption was active as follows: March 19th – September 2021 (Fagradalsfjall) August 3rd, 2022 (Meradalir) July 10th/August 2023 (Litli-Hrútur) December 2023 (Sundhnúkur) January 14th, 2024 February 8th, 2024 March 20th, 2024/May 2024 (Sýlingarfell) May 29th, 2024/ June 22nd, 2024 (Sýlingarfell)
