The National Archaeological Museum of Naples offers one of the richest and most complete archaeological collections in Italy and Europe. Not to be missed are the Vesuvian collections and the Farnese collection. The first houses a rich collection of unique finds of various types (from mosaics to frescoes, sculptures, objects of everyday life), found in the excavations of the cities buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. , or rather Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis, Stabiae. The Farnese collection, on the other hand, is the most important of the Italian Renaissance collections of antiquities, inherited in the 1700s by the Bourbon family of Naples and unique for its sculptures, such as the famous "Farnese Bull" or the "Farnese Hercules. then there is the "Farnese Cup", the largest engraved gem that has come from antiquity.
