Pompeii Visit with Food and Wine tasting near Mt. Vesuvius

Riccardo was a great tour guide at the ruins! He was very knowledgeable and made history fun for my wife (who isn't a huge history fan). I loved his little tidbits and information as we walked through the central parts of the ruins. We loved Pompeii and I found the ruins incredibly interesting. Our archaeologist was a little bit more of a fan of the Herculaneum ruins, but he was very knowledgeable about the Pompeii ruins.

The Wine & Food tasting was fun because of the other guests at our table. They were interesting and we had a great conversation. The wines were good the food was okay - but there wasn't much in the way of information about the wines and we didn't get to learn much about the winery or anything they do.

The only negative was that our Van driver from the Pompeii ruins to the Wine tasting was smoking in the van. Not a great experience there and would normally have made me reduce a few stars - but the rest of the trip was great.

Alessia was an excellent tour guide who brought Pompeii to life. Visit to the winery was lovely with great wine and food.

Riccardo was absolutely great! Knowledgeable and kept our 11 year old involved as well. He showed us things that were not on the map. The only thing I would change would be spending more time in the park. The wine and lunch were delicious the vineyard was gorgeous and we meet some new friends while we ate.

This was a highlight of our trip, we had an amazing time with our guide touring the city and learning so much history. After we were picked up and taken to the winery where we took a quick tour and enjoyed a tasting over lunch.

The tour of Pompeii was perfect. Our tour guide Santa was a real archaeologist and extremely knowledgeable. The winery was unbelievable! The owner was there and talked about the family history of the winery, and all of food was great with generous portions. I would 100% come back to the winery!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave great insight to what we saw on the tour. It was a great chance to connect with other travelers, too.
Although we had to wait a bit for our transportation to the winery- it was worth the wait. What a beautiful place with delicious wines and food!
Overall- a great experience- our only complaint was that the Pompeii tour was too short. A reason to come back again! Thank you!

What a tour! My husband and I booked this as part of our honeymoon. On our way to the meeting point, we text Rafaelle to let him know we were on the way and he responded immediately with information about parking and tips for a successful arrival. When everyone in the group arrived, he made it a point to learn everyone's name and where we were all from. Once the tour commenced, he sweetly referred to the group as "Family". Rafaelle is an actual archeologist and he is so clearly passionate about his home, its history, how we can learn from the past and its relevance to the future. The tour wasn't a boring "facts dump", but he conveyed the information as if it were a story, sprinkled with humor, sadness, and sometimes the gory details of what happened in Pompeii -- he painted such a vivid picture it was almost as if we were there when the volcano exploded. We learned so much about the area, the explosion, the moments after, how it was able to be recorded as it occurred, the changes to the topography of the land, etc. The remains themselves are so incredibly well persevered and it was easy to imagine life as it was. After the tour, some of us remained with Raffaele for a wine tasting and lunch at the base of Mt. Vesuvius. He took us to the most beautiful grounds with panoramic views of the vineyards and Mt. Vesuvius in the background. It was quite a sight to behold. The tour guide for the vineyard was also passionate about the winemaking process. After a tour of the grounds, we walked to a building villa-looking building for an al fresco lunch. The tastings of both the wine and food were well rounded, flavorful and balanced, and very characteristic of the local cuisine. The tone of the day really allowed us to embrace feeling authentically Italian for a day. We highly recommend this tour and would gladly do it again.
