Private Full Day Trip to Pristina and Prizren from Skopje

We had the most enjoyable day on our tour to Pristina and Prizren.

Tony was our excellent driver/guide.

He was waiting for us at our pickup point in a very nice clean Mercedes sedan which made the several hours we had in the car very comfortable.

Tony was extremely knowledgeable in the history and current day situation of North, Macedonia, Kosovo, and the entire region.

We learned a lot and had a wonderful day exploring Pristina and Prizren.

A great option if you have limited time but want a good overview of regional ancient/recent history. Tony's (our guide) knowledge shone through and made it an unforgettable experience. We had a good amount of time at each stop - it felt relaxed and leisurely. Tony also took us to the best restaurant in Prizren. The owner was very accommodating to our vegetarian diet. Worth the price, would definitely recommend.

A great trip to Pristina and Prizren with Aleksandar and Duško! We both enjoyed the deep information that both guides gave as well as their differing points of view and experiences. After trips to Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, Rumania, Greece and Bulgaria, I am still excited to learn more about the Balkan area and its surroundings, so this trip was perfect. During our conversations, we learned more about Yugoslavia and its 1990's split, Kosovo's independence and current challenges, Albanian and Macedonian history, the role of KFOR, Orthodox sacred art, and local culture and customs.

It was a long day with a lot of driving and slow traffic, but overall well worth it. Highlights would be Gracanica Monastery (wonderfully preserved church - a UNESCO heritage site), the Ethnographic Museum in Pristina (friendly and professional curator), the old town of Prizren (with a similar magic to that of Sarajevo) and the Albanian Museum there.

Thank you to Aleksandar and Duško for all of the conversations, your sense of humour, keeping us entertained and informed, and for staying cool amidst the holiday traffic!

I understand that it's quite demanding visiting both cities on the same day, but for the price one pays it's expected that the tour doesn't feel so rushed... And that is what I felt. In Pristine we had plenty of time, but Prizren was just a walk around for maybe 1HR, maybe not even, and that was it... I would have enjoyed getting "lost" in the old town for longer, as I loved so much the vibe of Prizren.
Other than that, Vladimir was my tour guide and he was very genuine and friendly, although quite quiet at some times. But very knowledgeable and willing to cater my needs at all times. We even went to a restaurant chosen by me, and he enjoyed as well :))
My suggestion would be increasing the time of the tour, instead of 10HR.

The guide Ajhan was very knowledgeable and gave a very interesting perspective on the history and politics of Kosovo. Prizren was definitely the highlight as it's a much nicer city than Pristina.

We booked this day trip for just the two of us, which made it fairly expensive (€130 each) but gave us our own personal driver and guide and the chance to amend the itinerary - which proved necessary when an unexpected opportunity arose to catch up with an old friend who it just so happened was going to be in Pristina on the same day that we were doing the tour.

We chose to set out from Skopje at 9.00 am, which meant we arrived in Pristina, had found somewhere to park and were ready to start the walking tour of the city by about 10.30. From Skopje it's only 20 mins to the border, which we crossed in about 10 mins; from there a swish new road leads all the way to Pristina in as little as 45 mins. As soon as we got close to the city centre the traffic ground to a halt, as seems to be the case in pretty much every city in the wider Balkan region, and then it took a few attempts to find a parking space.

Our guide Vladimir then led us on a relaxed but quite short walk through the city centre, starting with the Ethnographic Museum and passing such sites as the National Library and main pedestrian thoroughfare. By shortly after 12.00 we were already back at the car, as we'd arranged to meet my friend at 12.45. We arrived at the meeting point about 20 mins early, and agreed with the guide to meet up with him again and set off for Prizren at 2.00.

This we did, and it was another 45 mins or so on good roads to the old capital, where once more after finally finding a parking space we set out on a walking tour at about 3.00 pm. This one was even shorter, lasting about an hour and a quarter, and again started with the local Ethnographic Museum before we strolled around the Old Town. After that it was back to the car, 45 mins back to Pristina, 45 mins from there to the border, about 20 mins there this time and the final 20 mins to Skopje, which we reached just after 6.00 pm.

On the whole, while we appreciate that the tour necessarily involves a lot of travel time, and we ourselves amended the itinerary, we felt the day trip was somewhat lacking in content. Our walking tours of the two cities felt quite rushed (albeit without us actually walking very fast) and didn't give us enough time to get a real feel for either place. This wouldn't have been improved much if we'd stuck to the original itinerary either, since it included a side trip to a monastery - the bit of the tour we dropped so as to make time to have lunch with our friend.

Our guide was a good driver, and friendly enough, answering questions when asked and clearly knowledgeable. However, he was relaxed to the point of going through the motions at times, rarely providing information unprompted (outside of the walking tours) and never, for example, asking if we needed a toilet break or to get a drink, etc. He seemed like a genuine guy, but it didn't really feel like his heart was in it. This was reflected in his language use and mode of speaking: he had good English, but not entirely fluent, and frequently mumbled or didn't direct what he was saying towards us, but looking away, so details were lost. My husband just remarked: "At times it felt more like we were hitchhikers he was chatting to rather than customers on an organised tour with a guide."

Overall we felt a bit disappointed with the tour, having expected more for the price.

Mischa was a great guide for this one-day trip to Kosovo. He gave a lot of background information on the history (ancient and more recent) of Kosovo. We visited the monastery of Gracanica (Servian enclave) and then had a long walking tour through Pristina with various highlights. We travelled on to Prizren, which is much nicer than Pristina and luckily I had lunch there rather than in Pristina.
Some previous background knowledge really helps to fully enjoy this trip.

We took a private tour with Misho from Skopje to Pristina and Prizren - he was a great guide who was flexible with our plans (as I had a friend I wanted to catch up with in Pristina), and he gave us a great insight into both the history and contemporary life in both Kosovo and Macedonia. I would recommend a tour with this company to anyone, particularly a private tour, which gives you the opportunity to get a real insight into life in this region. As someone who isn't much of a history buff, I appreciated Misho's insights into day to day life.

We felt rushed all day, saw things only very briefly before being hurried along, and even so, it was almost 10 hours. Except for lunchtime, there was never an opportunity for even a bathroom break! I think we would have enjoyed Prizren very much but we were only allowed a short time, less than 1/2 hour of

We had a very interesting tour from Skopje to Prizren in Kosovo. Our driver and tour guide, Smile, was knowledgeable, spoke good english, and made the trip comfortable with a few stops on the way.
