It is located in the Serra de Sintra, around 40 kilometers from Lisbon, and is a stunning example of 19th century romantic architecture. The palace was built by King Fernando II, who was a great admirer of German romantic architecture. The project was inspired by medieval castles and baroque churches, with a mix of styles that results in a unique and inimitable building.
