What You Will Do

Step off the beaten tourist path and discover a vibrant and trendy neighbourhood in the heart of Madrid, known for its alternative and bohemian atmosphere, street art, vintage shops, and lively nightlife.

On your private tour, you will:

  • Stroll the streets of Malasaña, a unique neighbourhood which played an important role in the 1980s cultural and social movements that took place in Spain;
  • Pass by the trendiest stores and also the historical shops honoured with commemorative plaques on the street;
  • Visit the Iglesia San Antonio de Los Alemanes, and admire the Spanish stunning frescos - if open at the time of the tour;
  • Learn the history of Plaza Dos de Mayo, the epicentre of the Independence War;
  • Admire the street art along the way with colourful and creative murals;
  • Enjoy a walk through Galería de Bolardos, an artistic intervention along the street;
  • Discover art treasures from the 19th century on a guided tour of the Museum of Romanticism.

Step away from the main tourist draw of one of Europe’s most vibrant capitals, and visit one of the city’s modern neighbourhoods, Malasaña, brimming with art, culture and history. Its squares and museums are mixed with hipster cafes, vintage shops, and mythical pubs.

First, visit a Baroque wonder, which dates back to the 1620s. Iglesia San Antonio de los Alemanes is full of hidden charm in its ellipsoidal, fresco-covered interior, which features elaborate works of art by Luca Giordano and Francisco Ricci.

After visiting the church, enjoy visiting one of the many classic jamón shops, where your guide will help you buy the best cuts of this classic and succulent tapas dish. Then, enjoy a stroll through the delightful Malasaña neighbourhood, which has become Madrid’s bohemian heartland.

The streets have an alternative vibe, decorated with street art and lined with vintage clothing shops, trendy cafés and hipster haunts. This student mecca is loved for its weekend market stalls and traditional tapas bars.

The tour finishes at the Romanticism Museum, housed in a former neo-classical palace. Here, your guide will take you to the museum’s most popular pieces by Goya, Federico de Madrazo, and Leonardo Alenza.

After your tour comes to an end, we recommend you get some local recommendations from your guide on the best places to dig into some delicious tapas in the area.
