The first authentically Roman city in Spain was founded in 206 B.C. by Roman General Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus and was the birthplace of future Roman emperors Trajan and Hadrian. Take a walk along the old streets of the Archaeological Ensemble of Italica and explore the ruins of the houses and public buildings. See the amphitheater that had a seating capacity of 25,000 and was the third-largest in the Roman Empire.
